Today Jack and I went grocery shopping. Previously, I had decided that Jack would not accompany me on my trips to Publix anymore... after all, he has to sit in one spot for 30-45 minutes and being in the shopping cart that looks like a car only works for so long. Plus he was constantly wanting to open the packages and eat everything. But today it rained all day long so we had to get out of the house. I decided to give the shopping trip another try.

Everything went very well. He sat, he ate, he pretended to drive the shopping cart car, he threw his Hot Wheels truck on the floor about a 1,007 times, he waved goodbye to everyone checking out. When we got home Jack wanted to help bring the groceries in, too. So he took a bag, took everything out of it about halfway to the door, and brought the empty plastic bag back to me. He then decided to carry the head of iceberg lettuce into the house. On all fours. In his mouth. Tore off some plastic and leaves and spit them on the living room for good measure. Love that boy.

Not much going on at this household... besides the MAJOR HEAT! It has been unbearably hot - so much so that we can't go outside during the hours of 12 to 6pm. I get cranky, Jack gets cranky, Matt just sweats buckets... not fun. Still waiting to hear a move-in date from the landlord so we haven't even start packing yet.

Sunday was Father's Day and Jack made his Daddy a photobook from Shutterfly. I (wait, I mean Jack) love digital scrapbooking now! It takes all the stuff out of scrapbooking that I don't like... the actual crafting part. Take a look at it. It's the post on top of this one. Here are some other pictures from Father's Day:





Since it's been so hot lately I've been trying to come up with activites that will 1) wear Jack out and 2) be air conditioned. I found this place called KidZone and it's this huge playnasium as they call it. Jack was literally running around from toy to toy just touching everything. Then he saw these race cars that the bigger kids were on and he just HAD to get on, too. It was really scary for Mommy, but of course, Jack loved it. I have a video, but you can't really see anything because of the poor lighting.

Okay, so that was a lame reference to the t.v. show So You Think You Can Dance. One of the judges, Mary, screams a lot and makes very loud noises and I just think it's the funniest thing around these days. I need to get out more.
This weekend we went to Ben & Cindy's house in Orlando to celebrate their 1 year anniversary. Jack was only 4 months old and slept in my sling through most of their wedding, but it was a beautiful evening. Especially the gelato cart... anyway, we all got together and had some meat and pies, not meat pies although also tasty, and the boys drank and we played some weird game that I'm not even going to comment on because this is a family blog. Shame on you, Cindy, for even owning that game. Here's Jack playing in the hose at The Holtzclaw's







Today we went to the zoo with our friends. It's so much fun to play in the water area we didn't even go see the animals! We usually at least try to see the giraffes because they only come out early in the morning, but it was just too dang hot. Straight to the water for us. Jack's friends Isaac (not pictured, he was playing in the deep end) and Jax were there hanging out with us.

I keep thinking of baby names and then forgetting them (thanks Mommy brain!) so I'm writing them down in a place where I won't lose them. Feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions. I think for this baby we're going to wait until we meet him to choose his final name. That way it'll be a surprise for everyone!

I should mention that I don't have any middle names picked out. I think middle names that aren't family oriented are pointless and unless we can figure one out that belongs in the family, he probably won't have one. The only one I've come up with so far is James (Matt's father), as in Eamon James. It just has a ring to it that I like. We'll see. Jack's middle name, Philip, is from my side of the family (my paternal grandfather) so I thought this next one should come from the far side.

So often we find ourselves booked for months of weekends to come. We usually enjoy getting out and seeing friends and family, however, these last couple of weekends we've been staying home, resting, cooking, and just enjoying being a family. We're going through room-by-room and trying to organize before the big pack. I've already got about 10 trash bags full in my room of stuff we're going to either sell at a garage sale (not likely cause I'm lazy) or donate. Matt spent most of today and yesterday going through his books, purposefully deliberating on each one to figure out if :

1) he's already read it ... and if so
2) should he read it again ... and if so
3) is it good enough to keep for posterity .... if not

1) can it be sold
2) is it in a series ... and if so
3) would it be better to sell as a collection instead of individual titles

Exhausting, I know! Let him have his joy. If you would like to lay claim of ownership to any books you may have lent Matt or I, please do so now or forever hold your peace.

Anyway, gearing up for the big move here which will probably be the week before our yearly beach-week vacation in NC (funny how we have to drive 11 hours to spend a week on the beach when we live about 15 minutes away now, 5 minutes away when we move). The house is getting that disheveled-and-there-ain't-nothin-you-can-do-about-it look, but I'm trying not to freak out. Clutter makes me crazy!

So here's some pictures of our weekend. Disregard the half-clothed man, my husband and father of my child(ren). Albeit, after looking at the pictures, Matt proclaimed that he was going to have to start wearing clothes if I was to keep up "this blogging business." Get used to it, buddy, it's a free country. DOWN WITH CENSORSHIP!

Yesterday we went to eat dinner at Coconuts on the Beach. You've been there if you've visited us, it's where we take all our guests. Mostly the food is ehh, but the sweet potato fries are awesome! Anyway, we went to see the space shuttle Atlantis fly past us piggy back on an airplane. Jack and I saw the last one a couple months ago and everyone said that THAT was the last one. Now, THIS is the last one. Really.

At first the plane is pretty far offshore, but then it makes a steep left turn towards the shoreline and rides there the rest of way up the Space Coast. You can see all the lettering on the space shuttle even with your naked eye. Pretty cool and I'm not even into space stuff!

I took Jack home and put him right to bed as it was past his bedtime. Matt didn't come home for another hour... I was thinking, okay it doesn't take that long to finish a beer and perhaps order another one. I was starting to get a little worried so I called. Apparently, someone had said something "disparaging" about space exploration and Matt felt it was his duty to defend it. Whatev.

No, not like the kind like the song is talking about, you nasty! Sunday afternoon we decided to do some boating. We haven't been out on the boat since Jack was around 8 months so we were overdue. It was much different boating with a 15 month old that can't sit still even if you paid him in M & M's and marshmallows. I believe Jack had fun... I'm not sure though. He kept saying "all done" and I can't figure out if he was referring to the engine sounding lower at the slow speed or if he really wanted to get off.

We stopped at a little island in the Indian River that I named Mosquito Island. As soon as you step off the boat you better be ready to be feasted upon. Disgusting. That very well might be it's name because the island next to it is called Bird Island. Guess what's on there? Lizards! No, birds really.

Jack had a picnic dinner and splashed around in the water and sand. On our way back to the dock we saw a dolphin swim out of the water for a long time. We think he might have been injured because don't dolphins usually just come up for air? We also saw some manatees floating along, but nothing good enough for a picture.

I hope to go out on the boat some more this summer. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to manage 2 babies on a boat. It seemed like Jack had a death wish of diving into the river the whole time... that boy.

As an aside - I'm pretty sure we got the house in Satellite Beach! The landlord is replacing all the windows in the house and we should move in when the work is done (about 3-4 weeks). We will be placing our deposit down any day now. I feel relieved to have something down on paper finally. 1/2 mile walk to the beach! Backyard with a fence!! COVERED PATIO!!! Who's coming to help pack/unpack/chase Jack around???
