Countdown to Baby

Hey Everyone. Since we're getting pretty close to D-Day I thought I'd post an update before I start getting 10,000 phone calls a day =)

I'm 36.5 weeks and will be 37 weeks on Saturday - full term! That means if I go into labor from here on out they won't stop me. Thank goodness for that.

On Tuesday we had a false baby alarm. I woke up with flu like symptoms which can also indicate the start of labor. I started having contractions about 20 minutes apart. My mom came up to watch Jack for us. We went to the doctor .. and lo and behold... nothing. Nada. It was a stomach bug just for the pure joy of it. Let me tell you, having a stomach bug at 9 months pregnant has got to be one of the worst experiences I've ever been through. So my mom stayed the night just to make sure nothing did happen. I woke up the next morning with the bug gone and just a few straggling contractions.

My mom decided to take Jack with her to her house for a few days to let me rest. Jack has been gone for a little more than 24 hours and is doing just fine without Mama and Dada. He fell asleep on Nanny's lap (what?!? he's NEVER done that for us) while she was at the hair dressers and is watching Thomas the Train at her house so all is well with the world. Matt and I went out to dinner last night and it was strange... we really haven't been out to eat for dinner in months and months, let alone by ourselves. We miss him, but we're both really glad that he's having a good time with other family members.

Also on Tuesday the doctor wanted to do an ultrasound to see if the baby was head down. Turns out that he was indeed head down in the birthing position and the doctor also suspects that this baby is going to be bigger than Mr. Jack. For those of you that didn't memorize my child's birth weight, he was 7 lbs 9 oz at 42 weeks (2 weeks past due) which is a pretty average size baby. The doctor thinks this new little guy might be close to that weight already at almost 37 weeks! But we'll see... there is a huge weight variability in that it might be +/- 2 lbs in either direction. So I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch.

Everything else in our lives is going great. The house is unpacked and we've settled in quite nicely. It already feels like we've been here for a long time. Matt is SUPER busy at work which is always a good thing. Jack has his 18 month appointment next week and I can't believe how much of a big boy he is!

That's all for now. I'm hoping our next update will be a baby update!!!!!!!

Love to all <3

Swimming Lessons and the fountains

Once a week Jack and I take swimming lessons with Safety Susie and our friends Isaac, Jax, and Aubrey (who has since moved away). It's not exactly lessons in that they learn how to swim step-by-step. More like wrestling oiled piglets trying to escape. We sing songs and practice our swimming mechanics: kicking, arm moves, back floating, and blowing bubbles. Jack mostly screams for his lollipop and does jumping jacks off my belly. Fun times.

Sorry the pics are so small. I got them from my friend.

Yeah, I pay for Jack to rip my hair out.

Yesterday, Susan and I went to the fountains in Cocoa Village. Just a couple of months ago, Jack was too afraid to go in. He really didn't let loose like he usually does, but he did have fun. Jax was loving it!

Playing with Jax's airplane.

Jax diving right in!

"Hey, Jax, this is AWESOME!"
"Dude, I know!"

Living Beachside

We've moved into our new home!! We absolutely LOVE it. There is so much space for everyone and the layout just works perfectly. Everything is pretty much unpacked except for the office, that's Matt's domain. He has been running around getting washers and still working in the mess that is the garage so he hasn't had a lot of time to work in this room. It's going to be our office/sewing room/extra guest room.

Living beachside is wonderful. When you walk outside, you can smell the beach. At night, above the hum of air conditioners, you can hear the waves. The walk to the beach access is 10 minutes. Unfortunately, we haven't been there too much because 1) it's just too damn hot out and 2) I'm just too damn pregnant. We've been putting the hose on in the backyard for Barley and Jack to play in.

Here are some recent pics. Come and visit!

Barley and jack in the backyard.

My best friend Desirae and her daughter, Gianna, came up to visit this past weekend. A little morning breakfast gathering.

I'm sure Des is going to love this pic.

Jack helping Daddy install the new washing machine that Mom and Jose bought for us. Thanks!!

Me at 34 weeks - about 8.5 months. It's getting a little ridiculous, isn't it?

Desirae and Gigi literally hiding behind my belly

Gia riding Barley. Vicious pit bull!

Playing in the fort that Matt built.

A little morning reading.

Cute patooties!!

Third trimester. Big belly, can't cross your legs, and enough of this "no alcohol" business

Contractions!

You're almost there

Baby's not coming... we need to do a C-section

Congrats! A shovel has been born

Learning to surf with Daddy and Uncle Monkey

There are a few instances that deserve their own post. This is the story of Matt and James surfing with Jack. No words are necessary. I believe the pictures speak for themselves.

More pics from NC & SC

Mommy and Jack

Having a 7 month pregnant lady on your cornhole team isn't a sureshot to the championship (Sorry, Mikey). Hey, you're lucky I'm up at all.

Jack and Pop-pop, as he now calls him.

Ready for some kayaking.

Jack getting into the cornhole game.

Sleepy babies on the way back from the beach and onto May-May and Pop-Pop's house.

Christopher, Emily and I went to see Harry Potter. It sucked but the popcorn was good.

"Weeeeeee!" says, May-May

"WOW!"

Beach week with the in-laws

Right after my dad left, we drove to Oak Island, NC for a week with Matt's family. It was really nice to have 15 other people there to chase after Jack - and chase they did! Jack hardly slept, ate about 10,000 ice pops and lived off Mac N Cheese. Best vacation ever!

Eating his standard hotel breakfast - a whole Beglium waffle. On the way to Oak Island

How many people does it take to look after one 16 month old? Apparently 7.

Matt turned 86 while we were there.

Birthday card and socks. Oh and ice cream cake that he specifically asked for (not really).

Grammie, James and Cara. Playing Catch Phrase. Grammie wasn't so hot at this game.

Helping take out the trash.

Cheeeeeese

"Matt, I think your hair makes you look foolish."
"No, Grammie, that's just my face."

Nasty pic, but delicious Oreo truffles!

Doing some digging.

Uncle Monkey pushing Jack around in his Tonka truck. Don't stop ever!

Snack break.

Chasing away the birds.

Most everyone hanging out in club shark - aka the garage

Matt dug me a hole so I could lay on my belly. Sweet relief!!

Everyone digging with Jack. I don't know why Matt keeps doing the prison pose in pics, but it needs to stop.

Jack spent many hours trying on various shoes.
