Toddlers go Green

Happy Earth Day! I admit, we didn't do anything very "earthy" today, but we certainly tried. In the morning we went to Kidzone and had tons of fun playing on their go-kart roller coasters. Only thing was that it was indoors. So to make up for it I invited some friends over for a little beach cleanup. Jack's friends Jax and Isaac (along with little bro Luke) came over and we all had a beautiful beachy afternoon. It was so beautiful that it distracted us from our trash cleanup goals! Actually, there wasn't even that much trash on the beach.. there must have been a lot of cleanups this week.

I've got to rub that sunscreen in a little better next time

Cutie-patootie Jax!

We have lift off!

No, he's not crawling yet... but he did pull himself up on his feet all by himself yesterday. I was really surprised. I didn't get it filmed yet, but there's a video at the bottom of this post of him ALMOST standing up. We're watching The Wiggles on tv. Jack loves it.

Heave, ho!

Lift off!

Apparently my baby loves to do yoga. This is called Plank Pose

In the video at the bottom you can hear me singing "cold spaghetti cold spaghetti." It's part of Jack's favorite song called "Hot Potato" by The Wiggles. His other favorites include "I'm the Map" jingle from Dora the Explorer and "Do You Know the Colors of the Rainbow" by Signing Time. Yes, we've been watching a lot of TV these days. Jack's getting his 2 year old molars and is super cranky. Don't judge.

speaking of spaghetti...

Dad stopped by on his way back home from visiting with Uncle Chris and Krystal. Here's a cute pic of Jack playing his favorite game, Top, with Gampa.

Goodbye Old Man Winter (not Poppy)

BEACH SEASON IS HERE!! Finally, after the longest cold season on record since the 80's , we have been released from the terrorism of lingering cold temperatures. Yippee! Today was our first trip to the beach that wasn't just a walk down the shore. Eamon loves to eat sand like his big brother did when he was his age. Jack is getting better at not trying to constantly drown himself in the ocean. He avoids the waves as much as he can, but he still has the compulsion to run into the water every once in a while just to keep his parents on their toes. He loves to collect trash and throw seaweed and rocks into the water.

My boys!

"oooooo sand"

Everyone loves sand!

I stayed up this time

"Bye beach"

He's SOOO close

Eamon is making leaps and bounds on his crawling progression... yet no actual crawling so far. He can lean forward from a sitting position into the crawling position and can heave his whole 20 lbs self up if you give him an arm to hang on to. When are ya gonna start crawling, kid?!? His sleeping, or lack thereof I should say, is insane lately. I'm hoping hoping hoping that he will start crawling and then tire himself out and nap. That'd be great.

He's a feet grabber. He can even get them into his mouth!

starting to move

"Reeeeeeach" as Jack would say

FACE PLANT!

I'm A-OK, Mom!

Below is a video of Eamon doing his thang:

Easter

We went to visit Mimi (what Jack is now calling Mary) and Poppy for Easter. We arrived Thursday night at about 3:30am and J & E were so excited they couldn't sleep in the car. Poppy's house is just so much fun neither of the boys slept much during our visit. Eamon kept waking up before the birds and even one day at 4am. Jack wanted to party with everyone until the wee hours of the night.

Michael swiftly taking the 3 laptop computers out of harm's (Jack's) way. Emily is playing with Eamon, she's not weirdly making goo-goo faces to the floor

Jack had a fantastic time. He is 100%, totally, absolutely in love with Poppy. Sorry Mimi, but you're just the person that feeds, changes, washes, and takes him on countless walks and park trips. Poppy has his car and the tractor!

The weather was unbelievably gorgeous. I don't think I've ever been to South Carolina in the spring time. The plants and flowers were so beautiful. Like I posted on Facebook, "SC isn't the barren wasteland of rednecks" like I originally thought. To which Michael replied, "Just because we have broken down cars in the front yard, coons and possums living in our house, and a pack of dogs roaming the streets does not make us rednecks." Mmkay.

The 2 E's enjoying the outside weather.

Just hanging out

On Saturday Poppy took Jack to ride on a train into Charlotte. Jack had a great time for about the first 20 minutes and then realized that you have to stay in one place while riding on the train. Not so much fun anymore. But he did love it for a short time.

Train ride!

"cool train ride"

I've got him wrangled

all done!

Sunday was Easter and Jack had his first egg hunt. It didn't take him long to figure out the difference between eggs that had candy in them and eggs that had a prize. If you shake and it makes noise - CANDY! No noise, no candy, next egg. That led to Jack eating a whole bunch of candy before lunch.

Auntie Em helping with the hunt. She also pulled Jack out of the pool the next day after he fell in playing with the dogs - yay for Aunts!

There's about 15 jellybeans in his mouth

Jack learned some of the finer points of the English language, too. "Oh God" from Uncle Peter, "Oh Jesus" from Mommy, and "Dang it!" from Mrs. Trapp. It didn't help that we were all cracking up while he was saying these things either. This kid has a way of picking out the single bad word you say in a whole paragraph.

I'm sorry I don't have more pictures but my POS camera died in the middle of the egg hunt so we missed a lot of photo ops. Maybe this hard working mama will get a new one for Mother's Day??? IT'S FOR THE BLOG!!
