My baby!  Today Jack told me, "Mom," (that's what he calls me now, not Mommy, not Mama, but straight up MOM like an angst ridden teenage boy.. but, I digress), "Mom, I'm not a man, I'm not a baby.  I'm a big boy."  Yes you are my darling boy!

I have been wanting to do this for a couple years now and I finally took the plunge.  We rented two chicks from a local farm during Easter time.  They come to your house in a box with feed and you play with them for two weeks.  I knew the boys would LOVE playing with the chickens.  I also knew that it was going to be hard as heck to keep them from manhandling the poor chickens to death!

Jack named them Bill and George - characters from Curious George.  Although I guess technically they're Billie and Georgina  =)





Sadly, we unexpected "had to go out of town" and had to bring the chickens back a week early.  They were already pretty big for chicks and kept jumping out of the box.  I had to put them in the cat carrier after they jumped out of the box a bunch of times and crapped all over the floor.  Chickens poop a lot!

Lab school for the year 2010-2011 is done.  This is our last day of school called "sensory day."  Kind of like field day.  The kids had so much fun playing with all the different sensory stations.  We are looking forward to Jack starting 3 day preschool in the fall!

Today the boys and I took a trip to Mims (about an hour north of here) for our first experience at a U-pick farm.  This farm was blueberries that were very ripe and sweet.  Blueberry season is almost completely done here in Florida being as though we are in the full summer swing - hot and humid.  There were still plenty blueberries left for us to pilfer.  If you're in the area, checkout Holland Family Blueberry Farm on Facebook.  Can't wait until next year...
