Swim Lessons
Thanks to a super sweet mama I met in my natural parenting group, Jack is taking swim lessons this summer at the Palm Bay Aquatic Center. We're in the parent/tot class and had our first swim session this morning. It was such a blast! Pretty much it picked up just where last summer's lessons left off. We still sing and dance in the water, but we also are a lot more skill oriented. One of the first things the instructor did was ask me if Jack was familiar with the water and has he been dunked before. Yup to both - she promptly took Jack, said "Swim to Mommy!" and then pushed him underwater to me. He swam! He's really good at kicking his feet now... arms are still stationary. Floating is also extremely difficult, but I don't think its due to his ears being underwater. From what I read that is one of the major dislikes of kids learning to float. It's just that he has to be still and lie back like he's relaxing - Yeah Right!!
We also practiced the Humpty Dumpty maneuver. This is where the child either jumps or falls into the pool and they immediately turn their body around and swim to the side. Jack had fun at first, but then got tired of it. He saw the water slide and everything was done.

Eamon is happy to see everyone
The other kids you see in the pictures are Gracie with her Mama and Beni with his Daddy. Beni's Mommy is the one who took our family photos and all these pictures here
Like a starfish suctioned onto you
He spots the slide
Another lesson we learned today - you better be in line and moving up those stairs because if not Jack is just gonna push you out of the way
After this fall he realized that going head-first down the slide is really where it's at
